Deon King Fraud – NFL Bust Turns Ponzi Schemer

Ex-NFL player Deon King faces lawsuits and bankruptcy after defrauding investors through Tancil Logistics and Kai Express. Learn the facts.

Deon King once touted his time in the NFL as proof of grit, discipline, and perseverance — qualities he claimed transferred seamlessly into business. In reality, his football career barely got off the ground, and his business career has been far worse, marked by fraud, lawsuits, and bankruptcy.

🏈 The Illusion of a Football Career

Between 2016 and 2018, King jumped between five NFL teams in two years:

  • Dallas Cowboys – Signed, released before the season began.

  • San Diego Chargers – Practice squad, briefly promoted, then cut.

  • Indianapolis Colts – Waiver claim, gone within months.

  • Cleveland Browns – Shuffled between practice squad and roster, repeatedly released.

  • Jacksonville Jaguars – Signed late 2017, waived in 2018.

His NFL stats? Just four solo tackles — his entire recorded contribution to professional football (NFL stats).

Total career earnings: $646,776 (Spotrac source).

💸 The Pivot to Fraud

King reinvented himself as a businessman, co-founding Tancil Logistics with Tarik Floyd and bringing former NFL player Anthony Spencer aboard as Vice President. Investors were promised a thriving trucking operation.

The truth:

  • Over $1.08 million raised in 2½ years.

  • No more than one truck or one driver ever operated at a time.

  • Investor funds were never used as promised.

Instead, money went to:

  • Travel, hotels, restaurants

  • Luxury retail purchases

  • Grooming services

  • Transfers to Floyd’s and King’s family members

  • Personal living expenses

Tancil Logistics wasn’t a logistics company — it was a slush fund.

⚖️ The Legal Fallout

Bankruptcy as an Escape Hatch

In April 2024, King filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy — a move seemingly designed to sidestep responsibility in Giles v. Tancil Logistics. But instead of closing the book, it opened a new chapter of litigation.

New Lawsuit in Bankruptcy Court

Case No. 4:24-ap-03188, filed in Texas Southern Bankruptcy Court, brings fresh claims against:

  • Deon King

  • Tarik Floyd

  • Tancil Logistics, LLC

  • Kai Express, LLC

The complaint alleges fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, embezzlement, conversion, and conspiracy. At issue: $40,000 meant for trucks and freight costs that vanished into personal spending.

🧩 A Pattern of Deception

This case mirrors the schemes already proven in state court. In fact, King’s co-defendant, Tarik Floyd, was recently found guilty of fraud in a separate judgment for nearly $300,000. You can read the full breakdown of Floyd’s case here:👉 Important Update: Tarik Floyd Found Guilty of Fraud

Together, the two illustrate a clear pattern:

  • Solicit investor funds under false pretenses.

  • Burn through the cash on personal luxuries.

  • When caught, try to hide behind bankruptcy or shell companies.

🚨 The Legacy of Deon King

Deon King’s NFL career ended with four tackles. His business ventures are ending with multiple lawsuits, bankruptcy, and fraud allegations. Rather than perseverance and grit, King’s legacy looks destined to be financial misconduct and broken trust.
