Deon King

Deon J. King is the co-founder and acting CEO of Tancil Logistics, LLC, a company now infamous for its role in a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme. A graduate of Norfolk State University (2017), King once promoted himself as a disciplined athlete whose NFL career proved his grit and credibility.

In reality, King’s football career was short-lived: between 2016 and 2018, he cycled through five NFL teams — the Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, and Jacksonville Jaguars — spending most of his time on practice squads and recording just four solo tackles in the NFL before fading from the sport.

King has since become better known not for football, but for his role in defrauding investors of over $1 million through Tancil Logistics.

The Allegations

Working with Tarik Floyd and Anthony Spencer, King solicited over $1 million from investors under the promise of building a profitable trucking company.

The pitch included:

  • Promises of high monthly returns (40% of profits or $2,000/month minimum)

  • Assurances that funds would be used to purchase trucks and hire drivers

  • King’s NFL background as a credibility booster

But the facts tell a different story:

  • No more than one truck or one driver ever operated at a time

  • No FMCSA operating authority to run freight contracts

  • Financial records showed continuous losses exceeding $1 million by 2023

  • Investor funds were diverted to personal expenses, luxury purchases, and Ponzi-style payouts to earlier investors

Legal Fallout

1. Giles v. Tancil Logistics

In January 2023, plaintiffs filed an amended lawsuit against King, Floyd, and Spencer in Texas. The suit alleged fraudulent inducement, conspiracy, and misuse of investor funds.

2. Bankruptcy Filing

In April 2024, King filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the Texas Southern Bankruptcy Court. The filing came as lawsuits mounted and appears to be part of a broader strategy to avoid liability for defrauding investors.

3. Additional Lawsuits

King’s bankruptcy attracted adversary complaints, including allegations of fraud, embezzlement, breach of fiduciary duty, and larceny. One such case, filed by Lucas Realty Solutions, LLC (Case No. 4:24-ap-03188), detailed a $40,000 fraud involving supposed truck purchases that never occurred.

A Pattern of Fraud

Deon King was not alone — his co-defendants followed the same playbook:

  • Tarik Floyd – Recently found guilty of fraud with a $295,002.36 judgment against him (July 2025).

  • Anthony Spencer – Vice President of Tancil Logistics, who was present during key negotiations and filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in April 2025.

Together, King, Floyd, and Spencer orchestrated a Ponzi-style fraud scheme that left investors with devastating losses.
